are some excerpts from my mentor on leadership from his experience and success
over a period of 20 years in IT Industry. The definition of
leadership is simply difficult to state. However, it is not very difficult to state
the terms of leadership.

<span style="color: black; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Though,
all the four parameters are distinct and extremely important to deal with -
these are very much interconnected. One has to be extremely careful in
considering the change in any of these aspects as the impact will be severe in
at least one of the other aspects in the worst possible manner. Any of the
promises that a leader makes in any of these aspects will have impact over the
other parameters either positively or negatively or both. This is a
vicious cycle and each aspect of it needs to be dealt in very precise manner.

<span style="color: black; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Leadership
is neither a position nor a designation. It’s the style as to how a person
leads his/her team. Unarguably, the progress of a leader depends on the
progress of his/her team. Leadership is not getting success/failure, it’s the
journey of the entire team to the success/failure. The true challenge for any
leader is to make this journey most fascinating and worthwhile for all the
stakeholders without compromising any of the above four
parameters. It is easier said than done, however, there are lot of
leaders who achieved it and showed to the world by
creating products/services which the world would never have been in existence
otherwise.

<span style="color: black; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">First -
The Obvious, The central aspect of the four pillars is Customer Satisfaction
which also results in all the other three pillars. Building trust
with the customers is the key for any business and taking it to a different
level is the business of the leader. The era is gone where we deliver what the
customer needs. This may build a professional relationship between the two
entities as it did in past decade for most of the businesses. Ownership of the
product/service and providing excellence by working relentlessly within the
business boundaries and giving the customers a wow factor for every release is
what builds trust. The only way it can happen is by building a team who
believes in Innovation as a process and not just a task. By giving a new
function - improved performance or enhanced stability or compatibility
with all browsers or simple to use User Interface which is not part of what the
user gave as a requirement. This kind of proactive ability to help the
product/service builds trust which otherwise takes decades to build. This helps
the client ignore escalating petty issues and request the team to help them in
a gentle manner. It is the job of the leader to make it happen, not by
dictating terms but by being part of that process and making the team
believe in this divine aspect and considering it as the only way to go forward
both for them and for the entire business as an entity.

<span style="color: black; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Second
- The Conviction, of the leader in everything he talk about and everything he
does for achieving those four pillars. The leader is not an authoritarian and a
delegator of tasks but is an extended member of the team and is a facilitator
in the entire journey. He should help the team develop the same
conviction he/she has by being part of the team in all activities possible. The
team is a web and everybody knows one or the other way - even the slightest of
actions which are not in align with the envisioned thought
process. Knowing the pulse of the team in a most constructive manner
is the best means of understanding and correcting oneself by making the team part
of the decision making directly or indirectly. It gives them a sense of
belongingness and ownership to the entire mission. By being genuine to each and
every team member and by making them believe that they are secure with their
future in the organization with this team. By building a team where
one can say "I am very proud of my team, they know what they need to do to
handle an uncertain situation or approaching me to handle the situation"
is what a leader strives for. (Please read 'The
Power of Intent' a HBR Blog post by HCL CEO - Vineet Nayar : http://blogs.hbr.org/hbr/nayar/2013/02/the-power-of-intent.html)

<span style="color: black; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Third -
The most important of all and the toughest to keep the four pillars intact is
to be unreasonable for taking any excuses for handling a situation or solving a
problem. One should be tough enough to say that it is not acceptable to give an
excuse and skip the process of resolving the situation. This should not be done
by giving orders but by being with the team in the entire process of resolving it,
helping the team with the required resources & time and by shielding the
team from any other external pressures. It is this support during the
challenges which ensures the team learns to challenge the challenges and handle
them to become confident about themselves. This is the period which genuinely
builds trust for the client with the belief that the team is here to provide
excellence with the product/service that they are building. This not
only makes the team tough but also the result provides great belief within the
team and in the circle of entire stakeholders about pursuing excellence. (Quitting
Versus Not Quitting - a beautiful poem which the leaders are made up of: http://www.thedontquitpoem.com/thePoem.htm )

So, when we don’t know things, we try to guess with the knowledge that we have in past instead of answering genuinely that “I don’t know”.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">So, I don’t want to prove myself as an intelligent guy and define love - which I don’t know. I really don’t understand the purpose of my life except that there is a purpose – I remember reading in a book “The purpose of life is a life of purpose”. I agree with it and I am in search of the process to find that purpose. Without understanding myself, I feel it is absurd about assuming my relationship with people. I do not know on what parameters we call ourselves like/love certain people. I do not want to believe that there is certain criteria exist for this.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">What is the reason that I like people? Is It because they are like minded, they are good to me, they respect me, they belong to my family - or is it because I am a social animal and need company and obliged to like people around me - who don’t hurt my feelings.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">What is the reason that I want to help those people I like? Is it because I want to get their attention, I want them to be happy, I want them to acknowledge my friendship, something I feel as an obligation or is it something I feel they expect this from me or is it the way I am.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">When I search for the reason why I like and don’t have a persuading answer to myself – being a rational candidate, I am unable to believe the fact that “I have no reason to like/love somebody”.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">
So, it is up to you to negotiate and get the immediate flight. If you have access to the internet and able to find the next immediate flight and then discuss with the airline people if you can get the tickets for those airlines. You have to be tough with those guys, otherwise they will convince you with whatever they can provide with that can be after 2 days or 3 days. If you do not have any such information then talk to the fellow passengers who are at the other counters and find out what is the kind of airlines and the dates they are getting the tickets. Based on this information you can check with the airlines people in order to find the available tickets in the next immediate flight. You have to fight literally and create an urgency in order to get the next immediate and best possible flight.

When they book the tickets, make sure that the tickets are booked without any domestic flight. There is a high possibility of cancelling or delaying the domestic flight and hence missing the international flight. In this case, International airlines will not take the responsibility for the delay of domestic flight. And in the total frustration and after travelling so much you will not be able to go back to domestic airlines for requesting for the accommodation. In this case, you are the mercy of international airlines as you missed the flight even though there was collaboration between International and domestic airlines.

When we miss an international flight by any chance (because of delay in domestic flight or by your mistake), you might not be provided with any accommodation as the rules might say that they are not responsible for delays to due to weather etc. So, you need to fight in order to get the accommodation and ask them to provide with immediate next flight due the urgency you have. It is very important to talk to the domestic airlines prior departure about the delay and the consequences of that delay. We have not discussed this prior departure, so don’t know about it.

If it is you who have to pay for the hotel expenses because of the delay, then it is going to be more than $70 per night and around $20 for food if the airlines provide you with discount coupon for accommodation. Otherwise it is going to be more than $120 in total. So, in worst case request the airlines for the discount coupon for staying in airport hotels. (This case is with respect to United States and must be true for any other case)

Disclaimer: These insights are my opinions, Please consider them accordingly and use it based on the situation.
Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-75596515232843427722011-01-05T09:18:00.000-08:002011-01-16T10:49:47.585-08:00Experience the uncertainty

It was19th Dec’10, the day we were waiting to come back home - .

Finally we started from the hotel and it took half an hour to reach the airport. We saw a lot of confused people in the airport. I started wondering as to what it was all about and then Amit told me about the cancellation of flights due the bad weather in London (Europe). So, as expected our flight was also cancelled and we waited in line to check what was store for us, facing such a situation for the first time. We stood in the line looking at the counters and talking to other familiar Indian faces and their plans. We got our turn and the lady who stood over there took our passports and tickets and disappeared for almost half an hour. We were just discussing the options that we have in case we need to take another flight. The lady came and told us that we have got the best booking possible. We hoped that it really was the best and asked her what it was. She told us that it was for 21st evening in Etihad Airways. We have to take a domestic flight from Atlanta to Chicago and from Chicago to Abu Dhabi and then to Hyderabad. We asked her if there was any other option available. She said that there is no other option and that they had booked the best possible one for us. We didn’t have any other option but to laugh at ourselves. She told us that they will provide accommodation for the two days in an airport hotel. Looking at the uncertainty, we thought fine. We stayed in the hotel for two nights updating facebook about our status and agony. We faced some difficulty in getting our luggage to the hotel and to the airport on 21st, however considering that the check-in is through (directly to Hyderabad from Atlanta) we felt little relieved.

We were in airport on 21st by 12:30 PM waiting for the American Airlines domestic flight at 4:20 PM. At 3:30 PM, we got an announcement that the flight is delayed by one hour to 5:30 PM. The next flight to Chicago was cancelled.. We felt happy that our flight didn’t get cancelled. As the international flight to Abu Dhabi was at 8 PM, we thought we can catch it easily as our luggage was already checked in. We got another announcement that the flight got delayed by one more hour and it was now scheduled at 6:30 PM. We thought that with some luck, we will be able to make it as the weather in Chicago was not good and the international flight might get delayed. And luckily our flight to Chicago started on time (6:30 PM) and reached Chicago by 7:40 PM. However because of bad weather, they didn’t open the gates. So, we had to be in the flight till 9:00 PM. Once we reached Etihad Airlines counter, they told the flight was on-time and left already.

Tired of the drama, we asked them what can be done now. She told us that there was no flight to Hyderabad till 28th, but there was a flight to Mumbai on 22nd with a wait list from Chicago to Abu-Dhabi. Left with no option, we agreed for that. When we asked for accommodation, they told that they don’t take the responsibility for American Airlines domestic flight delay. We asked them that as there was collaboration between AA and Etihad, they should be taking the responsibility. They informed us that AA has to take the responsibility but they don’t give the accommodation. They advised us to take the discount coupon and stay in the hotel and try our luck tomorrow and added that, “All the 12 people in the wait list got cleared today and you can clear the wait list tomorrow certainly”.. To rely on the unreliable - luck. The flight is till Mumbai and they won’t book the ticket to Hyderabad. If we need Hyderabad ticket, we have to wait till 28th. So, we left that option and agreed for the wait list.

We went to the airport hotel without knowing what to do - tired and exhausted. We got up in the morning wondering what was going to be in store for us that day. By the time we went to airport, we found many people sitting there looking with some hope at the ticket counters. We happened to talk to them and the story was same. Most of them stayed in the same hotel that we stayed. They informed that they will let us know the wait list position at 7 PM. It was much worse than waiting in Indian banks for loans or train tickets in Indian railway station or waiting for counseling during EAMCET. They called one by one and we saw an ironic smile on their face. Finally called both of our names and we were left with 30 min to board the flight. There was some drama at the counter where Amit was standing to get the boarding pass. And for me, they gave the boarding pass from Chicago to Abu-Dhabi and asked me to collect the boarding pass from Abu-Dhabi to Mumbai in Abu-Dhabi and he didn’t return my ticket also. Finally Amit boarded the flight and sat beside me. The best moment after 19th Evening was to see both of us sitting in the flight to home. I got the boarding pass without much fuss in Abu-Dhabi.

The story didn’t end there. We reached Mumbai around 3:30 AM and it took almost 1.5 hours to get our luggage from luggage claim in the international airport. We had to go to the domestic airport and catch our flight to Hyderabad at 6:20 AM. As we didn’t know whether we would be boarding the international flight or not, we didn’t book the flight ticket from Mumbai to Hyderabad. It was booked by our company (ADP) when we called them after boarding the flight. It took more than an half an hour to get the ticket, and another half an hour to reach the domestic airport.. We missed the Hyderabad flight by 10 min. But luckily with some additional pay, we got the next flight at 7:30 AM and we landed in Hyderabad around 9:30 AM.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">Is it financial problems, where people feel helpless wondering “why am I like this” and looking for a helping hand? “What will I do if there is nothing I can do and there is no way I can get it!!” Financial problems may cause the life to stop for a moment (moment may be months or years), leave the current opportunity and take the next one and go ahead, however makes move forward. Though the feeling is very bitter, because as human nature, we compare with our peers and question ourselves, why are we like this? After things happened, it doesn’t look like a very tough problem.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">Is it health/mental problems, highly possible, where people do not have any control over the anger of god. Here, people leave everything to the doctor (living god). If he is also helpless, then again question ourselves, why it’s only me? Here, people will not have any answer unlike financial problems, they have to live with it. After sometime, if they are strong enough to let it go and stand against it, probably declare their win.
<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">http://www.crossthehurdles.com/cth/index.php?title=CTH_Story_of_Sai_Padma

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">If it is personal problems, where people feel that they have become scapegoats. Where they feel ditched, helpless and what am I living for! It takes considerable amount of time, to come out of depression and get the self belief that these are just part of our life and not complete life and “We are here to achieve something more meaningful than worrying about the past”. This also takes them through some weak moments, which they regret doing it or thinking of doing it. Here also the same question, why is it only me? - However it is very likely to find the answer that it’s not only me but many around. This is ever lasting till they find some meaning to their life - the purpose of their life.
<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">Is it loneliness, where people don’t find meaning to their lives. Just live as it goes on. After some time, when look back, don’t find anything meaningful in life. Having no purpose of living make people feel frustrated and may become a terrible thing to digest.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">Any case, one question everybody has and feel is “Why is it only me?” – And it takes considerable amount of time to understand why is it! I am wondering if it is the current problem, which is the toughest of all! I doubt so? People who are strong understand the intensity of the problems and fight them calmly. They know what they are and what they are fighting for and what they are going to achieve at the end of it. By living for more meaningful things, they live and prove not to somebody but for themselves.
<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">Wish, people have control over few things in their life. However, looking back at those things, they think it’s good as it was rather than what would have done if it was in their control and with their intervention. There are few situations where people cannot just give their suggestions, advises or learnings in life but only can direct to right people without any biased opinions. Just listen to those people in trouble carefully and seek clarifications if don’t understand. I strongly feel this is what they need – listening to them. This is mostly in case of personal issues in life which are mostly beyond the control of anybody except those who are facing it.

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">One may ask why we can’t help those in trouble (personal life mainly) with our knowledge, understanding or experience that gained over a period of time. The possible reason is the following as I stated in my earlier post. (http://mgreddy1111.blogspot.com/2010/07/dont-suggest-but-break-cloud.html) It needs special skill to make people understand their problems at root level and make them work on them to make themselves come out of them, which need lot of practice.
<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">
Our knowledge about the world is mostly confined to our assumptions or beliefs about people, things and events. These assumptions influence our perceptions and may reinforce the assumptions.

If there is any conflict in life with the way we are living that is because of our untested assumptions about people and the reason behind those assumptions. So, when people come up with their troubles (Basically conflicts with certain situations) we try to provide them with readymade solutions which we may have with us from the past. And we assume it will work because of the similar situation we encountered in the past. However, we do not understand the assumptions on which the situation is based and the assumption on which the people in that situation are involved in.

The problem comes when we are completely different individual from the other person, which is true in most of the cases. So, how they live, how they behave, how they deal and how they respond is completely different from how we do it. Generally people ask suggestions, when they don’t have clarity on the situation or when they are in some conflict with the situation. So, our suggestions do more harm than help to those people if we follow our intuition and experience and give them the solutions when the reality is completely out of sync.

However, considering the intellectual capabilities you can help them without making any suggestions. You can give the clarity by reiterating what the other person said and you can make them understand their situation better which led to the conflict by questioning the assumptions and hence you can break the cloud and help them to help themselves in finding solutions.
Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-88422982778998047702010-06-28T13:11:00.000-07:002010-06-28T13:13:16.601-07:00Joining ACO Children and meeting with Agriculture Scientists
Joining ACO Children in Schools:

That day was one of my busiest days after passing out of my MBA. It’s Friday the 18th. We started early morning at 4:30 AM from Hyderabad to Guntur. We picked up Sunil on the way and went. We really enjoyed the journey of nearly 300 Km with lot of hot discussions, nice visits (Ethipothala etc) and some playing. We reached Guntur by 11 AM and had a meeting with Mr. Siva Rami Reddy, head of Avagahana NGO, who head Loksatta, Guntur few years back and did more than 5000 programmes in his career of last 20 years.

The purpose of our trip is to join ACO Children in schools. (www.acoindia.org) As a board of director, the responsibility for Guntur, we gave to Mr. Siva Rami Reddy, who is doing a great job in Guntur. So, we met him and discussed about how to go ahead in joining the children. We met with the head of orphanage and few parents there and found about the schools where we are going to join the children.

We went to Naveena Vidhyalaya first to meet the principal and ask for some concession for the students that we are joining. We (I, Eswar and Sunil) explained the concept of ACO and made him understand why we started such an institution to help the poor children. He was so impressed with our organization and more with us (being so young and concerned about the needy children’s education) and told he will sponsor not only the 5 children that ACO adopted but all the 20 children that are about to join that school. We bowed to his humanity and responsiveness and thanked him for his consideration. We also asked him to be part of ACO and he is more than willing to join ACO and joined.

After that, we went to Kanna English Medium School (My friend Vishnu’s father’s school) and explained him the concept of ACO. We got amazing response from him and he was so happy to meet us. He is very energetic and showed us why it matters to provide education to children. He showed how much concessions he is giving to the children. He also gave us the reasoning for why it is difficult for them to fight corporate schools which charges very high for children and pay more for the teachers. So, we completely convinced to pay the complete fee, however we got Rs 1000/- concession, which we thought, we can educate on more poor child. However the boon he gave us is, he is going to give free education to 15 children whether they get sponsors or not. We felt very happy and he wanted to be part of ACO and he became integral part of ACO.

We wished all the children best wishes and went for the meeting with Agriculture scientists and officers.

Meeting with Agriculture Scientists and Agriculture officers in Guntur:

Its 6:15 PM and I reached Avagahana office. There are around 15 members waiting for me to speak on the model that I presented in United States on Agriculture. All of them are more than 60 at least, who worked in rural India all their life time. Their experience is almost double that of my age and most of them are in the field of agriculture. I was introduced as a young mind, who is striving to make the agriculture profitable and presented a model in University of California, Berkeley. I spoke about my model for around 45 min.

1. Automation - Reducing cost and increasing yield for the farmer. So, overall productivity goes up by using lean principles. We can double the productivity which is missing now because of lot of loopholes.

2. Creating a hub and spoke model, where each hub acts as an aggregation of supply from farmers and aggregation of demand for retailers and where there is a seamless supply and demand with high quality without any intermediary. So, farmers get more prices for their goods and retailers can buy at cheaper prices with assured quality from farmers.

3. Creating self employment Units and creating direct markets for them. Like Dairy Farms, Organic fertilizers, Chutneys and handmade things etc. it’s based on location and their expertise. This increases the income levels of the farmers and hence the way they live.

4. We can create huge retail outlets at each hub where farmers can sell their goods directly. Just like Wal-Mart concept. Because each hub connects around 50 villages and 2/3 towns. They get enough market. This provides farmers good prices and very cost effective for consumers with good quality.

Then, the scientists asked me many questions and few of them I was unable to answer and they suggested different methods. Also, they gave few suggestions of how to go ahead with pilot plan. They were very happy with us and asked us to go ahead with our plan. They told, they will provide 100% support all the time and they gave me a book as a token of appreciation. (Pedda Bala Siksha) The discussion happened almost for 3 hours with different points from different angles and provided me a very good direction for my business plan.

Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-48565174739468189382010-06-27T00:53:00.000-07:002010-06-27T00:56:33.199-07:00Fruitful Saturday
It’s been 45 days since I complete my MBA. It will not be same most of the times. For me, it’s difficult to comprehend, where I get satisfaction from. May be helping friends, challenging myself with tough situations and cracking tough competitions. Frankly speaking, not sure. I tried different things, but unluckily didn’t find one till now.

Expectations about anything lead to misery. I trust this statement and I try to avoid it. The problem comes, when you find someone trustworthy. There the problem starts, once they become trust worthy, you start trusting them with some expectations which will break at one point of time to give you disappointment. However life is fully all about ups and downs and staying equanimous at all points of time.

If you don’t dream, you will not have it. This puts you into the soup of expecting something wholeheartedly and hence the result. I am confused about this. I believe in creating positive pressure for whatever I do and then complete the task. So far it worked for me. However, I am in the quest of finding the answer to the same question what makes me more satisfied with what I am doing.

We live in the world of hope. “The Next is going to be the best”. The fact is, as long we start to live in present, the future will keep chasing us and put us in that misery all the time. So, trusting ourselves and making things we like and make us feel proud probably the best things to do at present no matter how difficult and challenging they are. Be ready for unexpected, it makes life exciting…
Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-23209836692731957602010-03-17T10:47:00.000-07:002010-03-17T10:56:09.636-07:00Reality Vs Idealism
Reality is looking, experiencing and feeling the things around as it is. It’s the ability of perceiving things in the frame of the source itself, which otherwise the reality has no meaning but become only relative reality. I doubt the existence of reality and I feel it’s a dogma. Because nobody knows what is real and what is not. It’s only the perception which most of the times depends on the frame of reference which we look at. The frames of reference vary from person to person where he belongs to, the kind of environment they grew up, their genes and everything surrounded by them so far. So, when the frames are different, the way each look at something different and the reality is nothing but a perception and hence become relative for measurement.

So, the term absolute we are talking about (Reality) is never so. However, Considering the experience, knowledge of the people who gained the ability to see things as they are can perceive the reality and act upon it. This needs lot of patience, practice and power to live life without attachment from any source and able to break through all the frames that the world creates around.

Idealism is perfection with which we do things in consideration with the absolute values, ethics and morals that our ideologies since generations taught us. Again, what is ideal is may not be ideal to others as each is different with respect to their ideologies which has been penetrated and inculcated in each and every nerve of the people.

Reality is wrt a person and idealism is wrt a race. Both are different for different people depending on who both the individuals are. So, the distinction between reality and Idealism comes when the perceptions of one person from one race meets the perceptions of other person from another race. Where the frame of reality is different and the frame of ideologies are different. So, whats true for one person may be true for another or false for another based on what the other person is.

The one who can control all the senses and able to absorb the power of nature and feels it can understand the reality and idealism and their difference in all situations. It’s the non attachment with the world which breaks the barriers and moves towards the idealism and breaks the barriers between different ideologies and brings all of them to one. The one who can feel both of these can enjoy each and every moment of life as he can connect to the nature all the time and able to see it from the frame of nature itself.
Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-38767892142947245252010-02-09T10:07:00.000-08:002010-02-10T22:29:01.556-08:00Disruptive Innovation
I loved great lakes for its faculty. It’s a great learning throughout the year with the harmony of theoretical concepts by great faculty and industrial outlook by CEOs, CFOs, COOs, great doctors, IAS officers, Chief Ministers through guest lectures. Today we are fortunate to have Mr.Shibulal , the Chief Operating Officer and one of the founding members of Infosys addressing us on technology innovation in the future.

He provided me with a paradigm shift in my thought process by giving insights and direction to look at and think through the spectrum of technology and its growth. It’s not about adding improvements to new products which make you unique but by moving towards disruptive innovation and making others follow you. When whole the world is thinking in one direction, you need to think through another direction to make some space in the market. Tata Nano is one such example, where whole automobile industry is looking towards convenience and Tata looked towards affordability. And the so called world giants started following it.

Disruptive innovation is what makes the world moving in right direction. Big companies which forget to handle this will lose out in long term to the firms which come up with these kinds of innovations. So, these companies need to start their own small firm with new clients when they come up with such an innovation and the world is not yet ready, so that it will not lose its big pool of customers who are accustomed to past.

Healthcare is just booming looking towards the global trend of aging population. Except India, almost all countries are moving towards that. So there is a need for lot of innovation both in products and processes considering the gaps that health care industry is going to face in the near future. It is what makes people wise if they are able to learn from the past i.e. the reflection from the past experience. So, what is it makes experienced people more capable than who are not. As for as the field where creativity is concerned, it’s the unlearning what matters than the learning. However in most cases, where re-engineering or revamping the processes or restructuring the organizations is concerned what matters is the analysis of the past and its reflection for the future.

Experience is nothing but the analytical models that were built in the minds of the professionals which they learned from their past or from their peers. So, these models gives a prediction which is of equal credibility and reliability when you compare with analytical models using softwares like SAS, Business Objects, SPSS etc. As Malcolm Gladwell says, in a blink of an eye, Dr.John Gottsman's intuitive judgement gives whether this married couple will stay for long or not, a manager looking at a process and says right or wrong in an instant. These people, for the last 10-15 years whatever they observed, captured it, refined it, cleansed it and derived patterns to bring about certain conclusions which are of high quality. So, as long as the situation does not change where these people are expertise of, these gut feelings will work.
Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-9453084744127751292009-12-09T21:26:00.000-08:002009-12-09T21:36:12.714-08:00The Relevance of Mahatma Today
India has always been the country which inherits the good of everything around. It is always believed that the weapons of peace are inescapably powerful than the most destructive weapons that man has created since the last two centuries. It was proved many times since the ancient times and will be proved in present and future as well. There are people who disciplined the world with the way this hostility to be treated in every generation.

At present, the world is running at superior pace, where no one knows what is happening round and technology turned man into a machine. The very basic quality of man’s “thinking power” is being lost since the last decade and he is obeying to machines, turning our world into a helpless destination. The current world has lost the meaning of peace and is running after it without actually thinking over it for a few seconds. Now is the time for us to revisit at our great leaders who designed a strategy for tackling such situations like violence, racism, conflicts, war, terrorism, hatred and slavery. It is their indomitable courage to fight and their discipline to stick to their values that made the world a better place those times.

It is utmost important for everyone to learn what these people have done to maintain the peace in the world and use them in the situations of crisis to fight them in order to make the world livable. His role in establishing peace in the world is unequivocal. He was considered as one of the best strategists born in this world. He helped the world with the weapons, the world never ever thought of, which are indestructible, unquenchable till it realizes its purpose. Non Violence, Non co-operation moment, Social protest, Mass civil disobedience and non violent resistance are the esteemed weapons he gifted the world which changed the way to fight hostility, violence and destruction. This seems the only way for the helpless people in all over the world to fight with the mighty in mightier manner and help them realize the humanity in them to put an end to this hostile process. This is the only way to resolve the problems which can never be solved with sword and gun.

The one who was admired by one billion people as MAHATMA gave every reason to keep smile on the face of each and every common man who was harassed by white people both in India and South Africa. I believe, the concept of conspiracy of inspiration used by all our great cherished leaders in the past, however the way they used this is more strategic and for the benefit of the society in most of the cases (debatable). And I feel this is prevailing again in modern era, considering the vulnerable society. Now, every person is acting like an automated machine, and feels the necessity of being humane at times. This feeling of being part of the human generation will be provided by our so called inspirers. But the way it is being done is what I feel is conspiracy!!!

Let me tell you what I mean by Conspiracy of Inspiration. This is the process of mystifying people with what they like rather than what’s correct. In this process, people will listen to what these people say because it is in tune with their belief system, which don’t need any change of their existing beliefs and will be carried away with this. And by this process, they create an image of leadership, which I feel pseudo leadership. Of course, this process needs innate potential and intrinsic capabilities powered by indomitable genius.

Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi are best examples of this kind. Their vision is selfless and the way they inspired people is in that direction hence they reached the state of god. Of course these cases are extreme cases, however they did this. How the modern world is reacting to these kinds of situations is questionable. The modern era questions everything and if they are able to get the answers they want, they are ready to accept the leadership and become followers without any further validity of the truth. However getting them to listen to what we say is difficult. However a situation of vulnerability may let people cross this barrier and let them listen to the world of inspiration to get carried away with. Because they are supposed to listen to, what they want to listen to and hence they got into the trap that cannot be realized. I am not sure, is it good or bad, I saw both the extreme cases, who utilized these situations for their benefit and also those who ridiculed themselves with these thoughts. However, by introspection and by going deep inside, one can really feel the necessity of being humane and hence come out of this trap, if it is truly a trap.

I feel, this is important considering the way technology is changing the way people interact. Now, people rarely talk verbally. The communication happens by means of electronic media, if at all people talk, they use mobile phones or voice chat in computers. So, when there exists a communication gap between individuals, they feel the necessity of being prone to pseudo spirituality which can be attained by words of wisdom which they want to hear rather than what they need to be heard.

So, Individuals need to start thinking. It’s like lightening in the mid of the sea which gives the jerk to your current life to change its path slightly to move ahead. When you go through such challenges you will feel the heat of it and may hate it, but for the outside world, what is visible is the attitude with which you handle the situation. If one is so calm and peaceful, that doesn’t mean, he is out of troubles and challenging situations. But it is just that, he crossed the stage of reacting to those situations. It’s action that matters than reacting to those situations.

If you happen to go to a beach, observe carefully, how much time it takes for a small thing to go little deeper in to the sea. It may take hours, the reason being one wave will pull into the sea and at the same time other wave pushes it out of the sea. If it happen to move into the mid of the sea then it will stay calm and composed without any further push – pull process. Life is just like that, when you are ready to enter into a challenging world to get something you will experience both the things positive and negative. Positive gives you motivation to move further and Negative gives you the strength to handle the incoming challenges for the future.

The serenity of life doesn’t depend on how the external circumstances impact you but how you project your life to be. The beauty of life depends on the kind of challenges that one undergo. This is what is visible to others. Because everyone want to view themselves as what others want them to be, rather than what they want to see themselves to be. It is those situations that project your attitude to the outside world just like lightening in the mid of the sea, which is one of the most beautiful things to see.

Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-63388068474404863182009-05-23T11:49:00.000-07:002009-05-23T12:19:18.497-07:00Indian Philosophy in brief

India never felt the world was a field of battle and hence people began to think of the higher life, how to life more perfectly in the spirit. It was fun, adventurous and good learning experience. It was a very good team building program which consisted of Rappelling, Rock Climbing, Obstacle block, orienteering and some psychological test (similar to SSC test).

The first day of our college life started with a big bang. I felt this program conducted to show us, life is not going to be so easy for us in the incoming days, who have been sitting in A/C rooms and having coffee and tea whenever get bored in corporate offices till recently. It was like getting us ready physically first.

Major Roy, the facilitator for the OBT divided us into 6 teams (total of 120 students). We got our first activity as Obstacle Block. It was just like a military training where you need to do 10 things consecutively In 4 minutes. It included balanced walk on a narrow wood plate, crawling on rope, crawling through a pipe followed by tyres, Cheetah ladder, climbing rope ladder, mines, spider web and snake walk on a wire. I thought this was the easiest one, however after completion of the activity, I felt, probably it was the most difficult of all. Its not only squeezes your energy but also your team members while helping the person who is actually doing it. For the first member it was difficult as we don’t know how to do the activity in the best manner. It was happened to be me in Obstacle block. In spite of few mistakes I was able to complete it in 4 min and got 100 marks (10 activities). And all the members successfully completed it with few injuries in our bucket and good score. The second session was the same where group need to complete the task together including a pole which should be held by 3 people at every point of time. We considered this as a liability except the 50 points it brings. So we were unable to derive any benefit out of it as we ignored the hidden benefits that we can get with it. So each and every thing has its own importance and using it effectively makes it as an asset rather than liability.

Rappelling was real fun. Though people were scared a lot, they enjoyed it the most. First 10-15 members completed it very quickly (including me). The wall is straight rather than little bent which we see in IMAX. With first few steps we need to ensure that we are perpendicular to the wall. Then keeping your legs straight (90 degrees to wall) makes it very easy to come down just like walking. They bind us with a cantilever kind of lock which ensured our safety. When we are walking on a wall which is vertical we really enjoyed each and every step we made and loved every moment of it. Once we complete it we reached the terrace which is 4 floors above through steps without worrying about it at all and ready for the second time. Though we wished to do the third, the time is over and was unable to finish. If I get the time, I will surely go for it without any hesitation at any point of time.

After some time, I went upstairs to mentor our guys. Two people were toppled at the top in the first few steps which must be taken very carefully, however they were balanced and was able to complete it successfully. However after looking at them few of our guys were really scared to participate and missed the fun. So it depends not only on how good you are but also how your previous candidate is acting on it. If he is successful there is 100% scope for the other one to attempt it. Also it needs trust from other team members who are helping him by mentoring and by holding the rope. You need to trust your team and start doing things without hesitation. But doing things is important as your participatation effectively impacts the performance of your team.

Before we go to Rock Climbing, we were informed the scores of our team and other team. Other team scored 540 in Rock Climbing. We used that score and thought little logically and found we can do much better job by doing things strategically. For each candidate we get 20 points. And we got 20 members in our team where in 10 are thin and 10 are heavy. While climbing we can pull the rope so that the candidate can climb it easily. So we sent the first 10 thin members first and then the rest. As it included 3 laps where each lap need to be completed by all the members. Usually it is difficult as the wall is vertical and with the blocks which are not giving proper grip. Whenever you need help, if you ask to pull, our guys will pull us and you can reach the top in no time. So it was also fun however for pulling it needed lot of energy for heavy guys.

As for as the Orienteering is concerned it’s just like a treasure hunt however there is a difference. You will be given a card which consists of an angle and distance. Using Compass and foot steps of one candidate we need to measure angle and distance. With the given details you can find second card which leads to third and so forth. However the fun was that, all this happened in a jungle. With 300 meters to go, we walked all around the bushes, big tress etc and were able to found 2 cards. And for the third we ended up in a farm field which is completely out of the adventure zone. And we took some photos there and reached the destination 13 min late. We got 20 points however for each minute late 5 points will be deducted, so we ended up with -45 points. And our team was disappointed.

The real fun was at night. As we were given tents with AC and fan which wouldn’t be available during day time. So all people were settled in canteen and starting playing games. Dumbsharads (Hindi) with 6-8 people which was expanded to 30 members later. All our guys were acting superbly guessing with different words and the other team making fun of them.

We played another game named Mafia. In this game there will be one judge and judge will choose the mafia asking all the candidates to close their eyes. Then they will be asked to open the eyes and discuss to come out who is the mafia. Team should guess the mafia with the expressions on the face and way of defending. The guy who is mafia will defend himself and if he is able to come out in the last two people he is a good defender and the winner. It was fun when people choosing one who is not actually mafia and that guy defending he is not. If you are silent, as you are silent they will make you mafia and throw you out of the game and if you are making someone mafia they will make you mafia as you are imposing on others. So one need to be careful to be in the team and in choosing the right one.

The last one was psychometric test, a colonel conducted. We nearly had written around 15 pages – A4 size. We were asked to write what parents, friends and teachers opinion on us and our opinion about ourselves. Then stories based on the pictures and sentences based on words and reaction tests. By the time we complete that our hands were paining.
Over all it was a good team building exercise where we had fun although each and every part of our body is paining. Kudos to Adventure Zone

Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-81001768984676305232009-04-14T09:05:00.000-07:002009-04-14T09:07:09.379-07:00The Idea That Can Change The World

<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place"></o:smarttagtype><o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="country-region"></o:smarttagtype>

If you have the will to do anything, you will be able to do it. I always question this statement; however I used to get the answer at times that you can. And within no time I will get the answer, “There is nothing beyond fate”. I am not equivocating or at the same time I am not deliberately ambiguous. Again I don’t want to state those people, whose lives are extraordinary and I don’t want to set them as an example for everyone. Like Ramanjan – maths genius who solved the questions on the floor for thousands of meters or Abraham Lincoln who used tree plates as the means of notes. Also not Lal Bahadur Shastri, who swam river to undergo his education at child level. These examples are too good to read but in realm its too difficult to set as example for simple lives. However, certainly the people of our nation who live in rural India, certainly has the vision of achieving something. However the circumstances and the traditions that they follow blindfold them and make them unable to fulfill their dreams. I am happy with the recent times, where the world has become a global village and people have access to all kinds of information.

Everyone knows how to make our world beautiful in their minds. Certainly this can only be done with education and manifesting its true essence. However we have been trying to achieve this in many aspects since last 60 years and failing to make it happen. The reason is, the teachers and the beaurocrats behind this dream are not working as needed but only for their selfish reasons. Certainly we cannot change the way how they work, however there is a possibility to change things. One such possibility is this.

Our villages have many people who are educated till 12th standard. They just sit at home without doing much in terms of anything. With my experience whatever I had with my cousins, they certainly have the fire to achieve something. With little motivation from their brothers or husbands (In case of women) then can really do it. The relevance with respect to education can be manifested as follows. When they are ready to get educated, they can undergo their graduation in any Open University. Those who are educated well enough can help them in informing the dates about the course. We can educate them about the cost of the courses and how to prepare, which won’t take more than few hours. Once they complete their graduation, It’s not difficult for them to get a B.Ed degree from a near by town. Once they complete their B.Ed by providing few training programmes, we can train them as good teachers. These are the people who really want to do something in its true sense. So they certainly take the challenge and will become a true pedagogy.

I think the number is not limited in villages. We can easily find 10-15 such people. If all of them can do that, then villages certainly won’t lack good faculty for children till 10th standard. By establishing a school with values, we can certainly give education which manifests character rather than money making. This certainly needs faculty with very good experience. By providing with necessary facilities in the village or School, we can request people from that village or nearby to help the school (those who worked for 20 years and want to do something certainly take up this). Having them at our place, who are really dedicated for this programme, and has full liberty to do things as they wish, help the school in all commercial aspects. They can prepare certain standards, material which can be commercialized so that it can help the school to establish its financial base.

This programme certainly has some pros and cons. However getting dedicated staff for education can certainly be achieved with a programme like this and can help our nation a better place.
Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-22990312869125118082009-04-04T07:01:00.000-07:002009-04-04T07:03:48.049-07:00A Small Poem for those who can feel itI miss, "You missing me"
I love, "You loving me"
I care, "You caring me"
I hate, "You hating me"Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2644349864776180022.post-89686261018141741852009-03-22T10:50:00.000-07:002009-03-24T08:46:51.421-07:00The Serious Funny Moments of Life
Bhim boy:
A kid at the age of 2 years crawling on the floor and stairs to reach the terrace, probably to enjoy the beauty of nature. There is no fence to that terrace. He is looking down at the ground from the terrace which is around 20m height. He saw big stones everywhere on the ground and in next min, he is in between the stones .After sometime when everyone is searching for him, Someone heard small sounds from his side and guessed what had happened and they informed his mom. She lost her consciousness when she heard it. Then someone informed his grandfather who is playing cards, he rushed home immediately to take him to nearby good hospital as he is unconscious. Then doctor moved him little and removed all the dust in his mouth and used gave an injection. Then the little fellow brought back to the world. After hearing what happened to the kid, the doctor surprised to see not even a single injury on his body. He is so fortunate to be blessed by the god to live in this beautiful world. So all please bless him with your best wishes to do what he is born for.

Fishing:
Three boys who are siblings always have the liberty of doing things which generally parents don’t prefer. Their mother always scolds for doing such things and his father is indifferent, rather supporting. There is a lake in their village and it is half dry as it is summer. And everyone is going to the lake and enjoying themselves with whatever they can do. And there are fishermen who are fishing to sell it off. And there are these boys trying to get appreciation from their parents. So they prepared a small pond and went to catch some fish. They were only able to catch small fish and kept them in the small pond they prepared. After trying 2 hrs they caught 15-20 small fish and they were proud to show them to their parents. After looking at them with the fish, their mom laughed like anything and father gave the fish to an uncle with a smile on his face. Though they enjoyed a lot catching those fish, though they were amused a lot holding the fish to keep in the pond to increase the count but they were unhappy with the result however they understood what it means after few years to cherish those memories.

Rock On: (Wrecked)
He was the most diligent and Intelligent guy in the school. He was the class first since 6th standard till then. And there is no excuse for sports as well. He was one of the best players in Ball Badminton, Kho – Kho and was the champion in athletics. He was the best in essay writing and debate as well. August 15th came and everyone started their fight for the prizes and here is our guy with the best performance in everything. And it was time for singing, the only thing left for him as of now where he didn’t participate. And this time he want to win that as well. He looked forward for his chance and at last got his chance. He started singing Vandemataram and he as certain of what it meant to the audience. And that was the first and last time that he sang.

Specs time:
There are around 10-12 boys in that class with him who are very diligent and top scorers of that college. One day one of his friends was unable to see the board and went to doctor. Doctor said “you have sight and need to wear specs” and gave specs. After coming to room he started crying for having specs and his friend consoled him. No one in that batch guessed that it’s the beginning, and then on one by one started getting problems for looking at board. And every time they consulted doctor there is only one answer they got and returned wearing specs. And there is no excuse for him also and joined the elite with specs. All were surprised to see others with specs in a period of one month.

If you say it won’t happen to me, It will surely happen:
The curse of nature is inevitable when you challenge it. There is a guy who is too good physically. He didn’t remember when he took a tablet and when he visited a doctor. His roommates are little weak and this guy helped them when they need him. And this guy is so proud of himself and boasted before his friends saying nothing ever happens to me and I will never become ill. Soon after he and his roommates brought pooha from outside and had it. That night onwards he started suffering with diaheria. And it took one week for him to get relieved from that. When he was on the verge of recovery one of his friends asked him how he was? He told he was very fine. That day when he went to get some book from his seniors on bicycle, when taking turn at the hostel with a high speed, a crow hit him very hard and he fell on the ground and was injured little badly. And he got fever that night. And it took 2 days to get relieved from that. The worst part was, it was his exams time and he screwed the preparation leave by boasting and challenging the nature. So never challenge those, to whom you are no worthy of it.

When he met with an accident

<span style="Times New Roman","serif";font-family:";color:black;">He along with his friends planned a trip after a very long time and that day they were ready with everything. Everyone came to his home. Trip was planned to start at 6:30 in the morning however by the time they started it was 8:30. They were so enthusiastic for their first trip. And there started the troubles.<span style="Times New Roman","serif"; font-family:";color:black;"> <span style="Times New Roman","serif";font-family:";color:black;"> One bike started giving trouble and that hero is a mechanical engineer. He told this is because bike was loaded with too much petrol and removed one liter from his bike. As it’s not solved and he didn’t leave his opinion and removed half a liter again which didn’t solve the problem either. After sometime, other bike’s clutch wire was broken. When they were searching for a mechanic, two guys came and fixed both the bikes. And there was a MAK hero saying a new term Torque meter in bike (probably new term to be joined in Automobile engg) which gave the trouble. And they started with full swing and scolding the last guy who never crossed 40 km to ride fast. They were going on 100 + speed and stopped at a breakfast center. The Idlis were the largest he had ever seen and enjoyed the breakfast after a long time. After that, they switched the bikes and our protagonist sat on MAK’s bike. And they were moving on air with 110 kmph speed and there came the shock. A car was suddenly stopped on the road and MAK guy was shocked as the bike was out of control at that speed. And he was able to manage to hit the side of the car and the feat is unforgettable. Our guy, who is looking at everything like a movie, was in air and toppled 4 - 5 times. And he didn’t have helmet also, however he was lucky and there was not even a single injury on his body. The moment when he fell on the ground, he knew that he was toppling however it’s like a dream. After stopping all that, he was unconscious for 10 seconds and felt safe as nothing happened to him and thought for MAK guy also nothing would have happened. And he went to MAK who was trying to remove his helmet , and was shocked to see blood in helmet – and he just stood there as he still not out of the shock . There are few people who came there and helped this MAK guy to get out of it fully. The blood is because of a small injury in mouth. There was a little fight with those CAR guys and we were managed to get out of it unconvincingly. And the MAK guy was pressing his hand as there was little pain and asking us to start to Shivsamudram which we planned. And others scolded and took him to hospital. As the time elapsed the pain had become unbearable by the time he reached the hospital. Doctor told there was a fracture and gave shock saying, this is the toughest and safest bone to fracture and gave medicine and asked for 2 months bed rest. That’s the end of our so much planned trip ended in a shocking note.<span style="Times New Roman","serif"font-family:";">

Gurava And I owe the same to NSF feeding me at right time with the scholarship when I was really short of money and there is no source to pay the fees. NSF not only provided me the confidence on the humanitarian aspects but also the values that one needs to live with, which otherwise I wouldn’t have learned. After passing out from NIT Surat, worked 3 years in IT industry I am really honored to be part of NSF alumni. The team which I call intellectually honest is always a source of inspiration for me both directly as well as indirectly. I specially thank Dr.Ratnam for his vision without which I wouldn’t have been what I am right now. His inspiration let me to give part of what I earn to the needy people through our welfare society called Pragathi and I think we can do really well by following his footsteps.

NSF Link : www.northsouth.org

Pragathi Link : www.pragathi.info

After reading this book, one thing everyone will do is, they call their favorite teacher and thank them or wish them; if they don’t have one, then they will dream of having a guide like Morrie. I say, it is a must read book for those who has questions on life like “how to life happy life?”, “How does human relations matter?”, “What it is, to be good to everyone?”. I am pretty sure, you will change the way you live if you read this book. You will become more optimistic, more forgiving, more energetic and more friendlier than ever. You will get to know what you need to do, when you are being haunted by past mistakes and how to overcome fear of something, how much dreadful it may be. He tuned with Chinese philosophy “Purana Culture ko thoodo” and says let’s not accept the old social obligations when it is not apply to you and he convinces you that you can go with your conviction whenever you have trouble of choosing the direction.

As usual, I thank two people for introducing this to me directly or indirectly. line-height: 115%;">I always think of our existence in this world and during those times I think of the time (amount) that we live on Earth. At times I feel we are living too much time (100yr!!!) and at times I feel we are living too little time (Just 100 yrs). When any of these thoughts strike my mind at any time, what I first think of is the productive time that we spare in our lives. Then one absurd thought will prattle my mind saying, “Why don’t you create time ... why don’t you do it ... why don’t you try it “. When I get this into my mind what I do is what I guess, you are doing right now… I laugh at myself with exclamation. However I don’t want to be like Charles Darwin, Edison who created and published their hypothesis. Because I know that this is just a fictitious opinion, however I feel like crying “Eureka … Eureka”, like Archimedes when I find I really can create or manufacture time for me.

This has always been there at the back of my mind, which eventually I started practicing and got to know that it really works. The first thing that came to my mind is the adage that we hear from our parents since our childhood, “one penny saved is one penny earned”. I do not know whether this fits for a penny or not, but surely fits for time, “One second saved is one second created”. This is absolutely true and this makes me live a second life truly, realizing the importance of time in our life and what “wasting time” truly means. Also it conveys what do we miss by wasting time in this life time, that too when we are young. Being rational I always think, there is a reason for our existence and we need to fulfill that. I feel the most productive years of a person is between the ages of 20 and 40 and if we are wasting that time, it means we are really wasting our chance in this lifetime. The next thing that troubled me is how to save time... if it is money we can save it in a bank, but where can we save time? My manager gave me the link to this process which he is practicing and making us practice now a days i.e. we can save our time by building our knowledge base. By building it, we need to spend only a little time on things which we really struggle for longtime in normal process, so that we can minimize the time spent on things in general and save time. Earlier I used to do this by learning what is difficult and kill my time in most of the cases, however I do not know what difference and how much difference it makes. Now I know what it means and what I am earning from that. Also the difference is when I learn it I don’t document it but I use only for the purpose and leave it, but now by documenting it I can find the relevance in many of the other cases. Of course this needs lot of management in our day to day life like Prioritizing things, taking quick decisions , thinking less and acting more , stop worrying and start doing things and accepting things as they are and most importantly positive attitude.

I found few things which must be practiced. First one is not doing things which actually have negative effect on you (In my case I stopped watching horror movies, psycho movies, arguing unnecessarily, discussions with evil minded people), Second is not doing things which have no effect on you (I found watching Useless movies, sitting before TV and changing channels, browsing through net without any destination are few of them, chatting without any point). Third is self motivation or inspiration by completing what really you want. (By doing one thing, by pleasing yourself that you can do it (just not telling yourself that I can easily do it, but actually doing it)). Others I don’t need to tell you, I have lot more lists to go for me, as I may be one of the best people in wasting time. One thing is certain; try to stay with people where you will be really appreciated for your good and criticized for your bad. And my friend Sunil says “There is only one thing which is constant in this world and that is change”. We always need to be in sync with the nature otherwise we will think more than required. When nature is doing its duty by changing continually, if we are reluctant to change, what should not happen may happen. So my philosophy is “There is no wrong time to do a right thing”. By doing right things at right time we can become what we want and we don’t need to blame or curse someone else for your mistakes.
Gurava Reddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05304152864651989972noreply@blogger.com0
